Playlist Curation

My playlist curation experience

I have curated playlists on the Spotify platform for about eight years now. As of today, I actively curate over 30 playlists exceeding 160,000 followers in total. Consequently, I devote a lot of time to research the music genres represented on my playlists and to stay on top of any developments in the music scene.  Therefore, it is important to have the connections and resources needed to discover new talent and latest releases.  One could argue that one has to become an expert in those particular music genres.

Most of my playlists attempt to find a good balance between listening pleasure, genre representation, and artist exposure.  First of all, listening pleasure will always be key: if nobody cares to listen to your playlist the rest doesn’t matter. Furthermore,  I feel that playlists devoted to a particular music style should have a good representation of the major artists relevant to that music style.  And finally, improved artist exposure is something I try to achieve by limiting the number of tracks per artist in my playlists.  This is my personal approach to playlist curation and I am not claiming that it is the blueprint for success. All roads lead to Rome.

My playlist services

I help independent curators and record labels grow their follower base but also with the ever so important real playlist plays and listener retention.

However, my services do not include placing tracks on my playlists for financial compensation (‘payola’). This practice is against the terms and conditions of all major streaming services.  Tracks will be placed if they fit the overall quality and theme of a playlist. You can submit your track here.
